Goverment Pursues Plan to buy Thaicom

I saw the new in television inthe morning and found the big new about Thaicom that is the problem for a long time in Thailand. Thai government is proposing to buy Thaicom from Singapore to avoid future conflicts. Finance Minister flew to Singapore in mid- April as political protests were escalting to meet Temasek executives with the proposals.
They asked to co-operate with the Thai goverment to stop the red shirt protesters People Channel (PTV) from broadcasting inappropriate prgrammes via Thaicom. Temasek agreed and referred the matter to the Thaicom board and subsequently the PTV broadcasts were blocked. The second proposal is that asking Temasek iF it wouldbe possible for a Thai state enterprise, either MCOT or CAT telecom to take over Temasek's indirect investment in the satelite operate.

If the deal was sussessful, Thaicom would in effect become a state enterprise and the government would find it easier to regulate satelite broadcasting. It will be good thing because it will erase all issues that have annoyed both Thaicom and the government.
